Pizza is My Boyfriend
Booklet Design
Objective
Pizza is a universal love language, and people across the globe have created their own signature styles of making it for centuries. I wanted to create a beautiful coffee table booklet that would be a conversation starter for 13-29 year olds. The goal was to share my own personal marinara sauce recipe and showcase the different major types of pizza in a fun, whimsical, and romantic way.
Summary
The pink and red color choices alongside the hand-lettering and angel illustrations make this design feel like a valentine to pizza. The serif typeface choice for the body copy creates a traditional sense while the clean typesetting and natural light photography keeps the design feeling fresh.
Conclusion
While scrolling Pinterest one day, I happened across the images on my mood board of mixed media art combining vintage photos of people with pizza. I immediately thought of the antique Valentine’s Day cards from the 1930s my grandma used to sell in her antique store, and I knew I wanted to make my own love letter to pizza. The name for this project was inspired by my undying devotion to my favorite food along with the song Karma by Taylor Swift. I can envision this booklet being sold at local indie bookstores, and I would love to expand this project in the future to include designs for social media and email marketing campaigns to promote the booklet.
